You love the work that you do.Lost Joy In What You Do

And yet….

Sometimes, you struggle to find joy in it.

You get weighed down by all of the responsibilities associated with running a business.

Business owners, fear not! There are some things you can do to regain those initial feelings of joy and get back to loving what you do.

Outsource

There are so many monotonous tasks involved with running a successful business that it can be easy to get bogged down. Don’t let the mountain of invoices or the backed up email inquires get to you.

Outsourcing isn’t a sign of weakness. Instead, outsourcing is proof that your business is not only surviving, but thriving.

Bookkeepers, proofreaders, and even virtual assistants can be great additions to your team.

Outsourcing gives you time to work in your business, not just on it. This is not only great for you, but for your business and your clients as well—the extra time you have can be used in a more client-focused way, improving customer relations and bringing you more satisfaction (read: joy).

Customize Your Workday

It’s so easy to fall into the same schedule, day in and day out.

For me, productivity directly impacts the joy I find throughout my workday. This means starting my day off early and getting to work immediately. I avoid the procrastination black hole by simply bypassing those activities that lead to procrastination to begin with: Social media, email, etc.

For other people, this may mean starting in the afternoon and working late into the night.

Customize your workday to one that works for you and your goals.

Remember Why You’re Doing This

Did you leave a dead end job? Did you want to take control of your life? Did you envision yourself having the time and freedom to travel?

During those not-so-joyful times, it can be helpful to remember why you’re doing this. It will put all of the work that you do into perspective, and with perspective comes joy.

How do you find joy in your work? If you’re feeling burnt out, what things might you be able to do to find that joy again? Answer in the comments below!
